Schoolgoer's Growth and Development (8 Years, 9-Month-Old)

You do not have to worry about the kids of middle age. They are often well behaved and start understanding the difference between the right and wrong. But yes, there are certain behavioural changes for which having an alert mind is necessary. You need to ensure that your kid during such growing age stays all fit and happy and have no trouble with her growing age. There are people who sometimes feel quite uncomfortable to share their feelings or the issues they have been going through. At such time, you as a parent need to be more of their friend and understand what situation have been pressurizing them.

Changes That You May Notice

  • You may find your kid at the age 8 years and 9 months old as being quite a lot matured and responsible
  • You may notice that she starts showing her interest in the family talks and would like to give her suggestion as well
  • Your kid may feel like being more with the friends especially of the same gender
  • Some kids create their liking for reading books, staying alone, surfing the internet the most
  • You may also notice a physical change like growth in height and body weight as well
  • Some kids tend to be cleverer as they grow as per their age
  • A sense of responsibility also create self confidence and self-esteem which is certainly a good sign for them

  • For some kids, they often do not know what changes are affecting their growth
  • Some kids come across hormonal changes that scare them
  • You need to also sort out the feelings that they may develop for the opposite sex and should tell them it’s pretty normal to face such problem
  • At such age, kids tend to watch out internet sites more. You need to be extra careful that they do not watch out sites that are not for their age.
  • Some kids at the growing age also come across health issues. Hence, be careful with it and always visit your doctor after every 3 months to ensure that your kid is growing healthy and happy
  • Some kids may have issues with their peer and does not feel like sharing. but you need to keep an eye at such situations and make sure that it does not go beyond their limits

What You Can Do?

As a parent it is your responsibility to talk to them, listen to their situation. You need to put your own personal interest in understanding what all things have been troubling them. Always remember, kids of this age will not easily open up. They will not tell you unless you show any kind of interest in them. Hence, try to be a good listener and participate in their conversation. Other than this, you can also encourage your kid to have a good physical activity and share the mix screen time.
Give her a small surprise or also have some special fun times. Giving your kid sometimes an ample of time for free play can also be a good thing. Try not to share too many adult issues like bill payout or payment worries this can hamper their innocence easily. A positive feedback is always a good way to encourage your kid. Always give them a good feedback for the achievements they do and if they fail in some things, encourage them with words and give them a positive energy for doing better in future.
